Giotto and SPACE

In our study of Giotto this month, students have focused on SPACE, one of God's elements of design in creation.  Since we are dealing with a 2-dimensional piece of paper, we need to create the illusion of space (depth) on our paper.

Classes have been learning of some specific ways we can create depth (space) on a flat 2-dimentional piece of paper.  They are:
  • Overlapping - when an object(s) are drawn in front or behind other objects.

  • Placement and size of the objects drawn.  (Foreground, middle ground and background in a landscape)
  • 5th through 8th Grades - 1 & 2 point PERSPECTIVE

two point perspective
