3rd Grade - Tints and Shades Silhouetted Landscapes

Creating a Value Scale with Pencil

Most students created their own value scale to help create dimension and space in their art work.

Painted Value Scales

The 6th-8th Graders created their painted value scale to aid them on their project.  Completed projects to come!

Puffy Paint - Kindergarten

To wrap up our Rembrandt study, students practiced drawing trees using the "Y" method.  Then came the fun part...PUFFY PAINT!  We painted our trees with the puffy paint (a mixture of Elmer's glue and shaving cream).  Since we had paint and time left over from painting our trees we painted our snowmen! 

 



Pre-K Elephants

Pre-K & Kindergarten classes drew elephants based on Rembrandt's elephant sketch.  After they drew their elephant they used water-based markers to outline their drawings.  Lastly, students used water to "paint" their elephant pictures. 

I absolutely love their elephants! 

 

Let's Talk Value - 3rd Grade

The lightness and darkness of a color is its value.  All classes have been discussing the variation of a hue based on how light hits the object.

3rd Graders have been working on value in painting and creating tints and shades of a color.
